The Single Life
Well I had a good wife when I was twenty-three.
It didn't take long till she got tired of me.
Now I've got two kids that I've hardly ever seen.
But I'll have 'em paid off when they turn eighteen.
I feel like crying but I don't know why.
I guess I'll be hurtin' 'till the day I die.
It ain't everything it's cracked up to be.
The single life will be the death of me.
I've got a one room apartment and a color TV.
The rent-to-own guy keeps bothering me.
Yeah I'm reading the want ads looking for a date.
But I'm a dollar short and a day too late.
I feel like crying but I don't know why.
I guess I'll be hurting 'till the day I die.
It ain't everything it's cracked up to be.
The single life will be the death of me.
I got pretty sad about a month ago.
So I went down to the watering hole.
I met a young gal I thought was kind of pretty.
But when they turned on the lights it was a doggoned pity.
I feel like crying but I don't know why.
I guess I'll be hurting 'till the day I die.
It ain't everything it's cracked up to be.
The single life will be the death of me.
